Fetus in Fetu, a rare case report

Dhaka, 19th May, 2011

Patient Md. Abdul Malek , Age 40 yrs a farmer from Mirapur, Daridah shibgonj, Bogra admitted into SZMCH with the complaints of gradual abdominal distension since
childhood, recurrent abdominal pain and weakness.

On examination patient is of Low IQ, Anaemic, ill looking and malnourished.

Perabdominal examination revealed there is intraabdominal mass cystic to firm in consistency , non-tender, not mobile about 10 inches in diameter located in the right upper & mid abdomen.

Clinically diagnosed as a huge intraabdominal mass.



On Investigation:

USG of whole Abdomen: Large abdominal soft tissue mass.

X-ray Abdomen Errect posture: Irregular radioopaque shadow are seen superimposed upon upper and mid part of the spine.

CT Scan of Abdomen: Large retroperitoneal mass , fetus in fetu

B-hcg; -.17 mIu/ml
Alpha Feto protein: 2.33 ng/ml

Finally patient is diagnosed as a case of FETUS IN FETU.
